About Us
Chellaston Junior School first opened in 1967. It has been extended a number of times over the years to the large school you see today. The capacity of the school is 512 pupils with 128 children in each year group.
The main school building comprises of 16 classrooms, library, multi-purpose hall and a variety of ancillary spaces. We run our own kitchen which provides meals for pupils and staff at Chellaston Infant and Junior Schools. The Hub is also part of CJS. There are two teaching spaces and other rooms used for meetings and visitors; the Zone (after-school and holiday club) also meet here.
Outside space includes a hard play area; extensive grass pitches; Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA); Millennium Garden; Maple Corner; Mount Jubilee (shaded area).
We are well resourced with Interactive White Boards in all classrooms. Children have access to laptops and iPads to support their learning.
We joined East Midlands Education Trust in 2021 and we work closely with the other Chellaston schools and the wider group within the Trust.
